Sermon Notes

Joshua 1:14-16 NLT

What Is Enthusiasm?

Pastor Jonathan defined enthusiasm as intense interest, excitement, or approval, the ability to bring life and excitement into different situations. It is the fuel that turns ordinary tasks into extraordinary opportunities to glorify God. Enthusiasm empowers individuals to overcome challenges, foster creativity, and eliminate ego.

Biblical Examples of Enthusiasm

The sermon highlighted several examples from the Bible where enthusiasm made a significant impact:

Joshua’s Leadership: The people of Israel enthusiastically supported Joshua, encouraging him to be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:16-18).

Rebuilding the Temple: God stirred the hearts of Judah and Benjamin to rebuild His temple with passion (Ezra 1:5-6).

Nehemiah’s Walls: The people rebuilt Jerusalem’s walls “with all their heart” (Nehemiah 4:6).

The Early Church: Believers in Acts 2:46-47 served and praised God with glad and sincere hearts, inspiring many to salvation.

Enthusiasm Empowers Leaders and Communities

Pastor Jonathan emphasised how enthusiasm strengthens leaders, fosters unity, and inspires others to join God’s work. When we serve with passion and joy, we reflect God’s glory, drawing others into His kingdom. He reminded us of Psalm 133:1, which highlights the beauty of unity in accomplishing God’s purposes.

Cultivating Enthusiasm for God’s Work

To nurture enthusiasm in our spiritual journey, Pastor Jonathan shared practical steps:

1.Support Leaders: Recognise and pray for pastors, ministry leaders, and volunteers (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13).

2.Serve with Joy: Enthusiasm is contagious; serving joyfully motivates others (Colossians 3:23).

3.Focus on God’s Promises: Believing in God’s plans for our good (Jeremiah 29:11) strengthens our zeal for His work.

A Call to Action

Pastor Jonathan concluded with a powerful reminder from Romans 12:11 (TPT): “Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keeping your passion toward Him boiling hot!” He encouraged everyone to pray, support their church, and participate in God’s mission with joy and faith, making a lasting impact for His glory.

As we embrace this message, let’s reflect on how we can radiate enthusiasm in our daily walk with God, lifting others and glorifying His name in all we do.
